Payroll Supervisor/Manager
Job Description Ballard Spahr LLP has an immediate opening in the payroll department for a payroll expert who will be responsible to supervise the day-to-day payroll functions for all offices in 14 states and for over 1,200 employees. This position will provide front-line supervision for the payroll department, perform daily payroll processing duties and will be responsible for implementing process improvements. Responsibilities include managing workflow, proactively identifying and resolving issues, understanding and executing all functions required for the payroll process, balancing the workload and assuring all critical functions are covered on a daily basis. The selected individual will be expected to assure that payroll deadlines are timely met which may include the authorization of overtime work, to provide feedback as well as implement new procedures to improve the quality and consistency of the work performed and ensure all payroll transactions are processed in accordance with firm policy. Creating and maintaining payroll processing procedures manual will also be expected.Required Skills Qualified candidates will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, technical, analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines gracefully. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and Word as well as experience working with an integrated HR/Payroll system.Required Experience Requirements include five years of payroll experience with a minimum of one year of Workday Payroll experience, preferably in a professional services environment. Prior supervisory experience is a plus. Legal Administrative Assistant - Litigation
Job Description Ballard Spahr LLP has an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal administrative assistant (legal secretary) with demonstrated litigation, technical and administrative skills to work in the Los Angeles office.  The selected individual will support attorneys in the Litigation practice group by maintaining and processing case information, managing the progression of cases to final disposition, creating electronic files, preparing and processing correspondence, memoranda and complex legal documents, and performing other administrative functions. Responsibilities include preparing documents for state and federal court filings, including discovery requests and responses, letters, pleadings, motions and documents, as well as e-filing in various state and federal courts, both trial and appellate.  Administrative duties include scheduling meetings and appointments, maintaining attorney calendars and contact information, new client intake, file maintenance utilizing the firm's electronic records management system, and travel coordination and expense reimbursement.Required Skills Qualified applicants will be highly motivated, possess strong communication, organizational, and client service skills and be able to multi-task and work in a team-oriented environment. Top-notch accuracy, spelling, grammar and proofreading skills are necessary.
