Business Development Manager - Finance
Ballard Spahr has a great opportunity currently available for a dynamic and successful business development professional to join the Marketing team as a Business Development Manager supporting the Finance Department. The successful candidate will be an important part of our Marketing team and will be required to work closely with Finance Department leadership, practice group leaders, Marketing department leadership, attorneys, and other marketing team members to support the Finance practices in developing new business and deepening existing client relationships. The successful candidate will work with the leadership of the department, and lawyers nationwide, on a wide range of marketing and business development projects and initiatives and will also work collaboratively with marketing colleagues on relevant firmwide and industry-focused projects. Ballard Spahr LLP has an exciting opportunity for a Litigation Docketing Clerk.  Ideally, this position will be located in the Salt Lake City office but will consider candidates in other Ballard locations.  The successful candidate will support attorneys and paralegals in tracking litigation deadlines utilizing the e-Dockets software and become part of a growing nationwide team of docket support personnel.The ideal candidate must possess experience: working with legal teams to ensure that litigation deadlines are accurately recorded and distributed; reviewing litigation filings to identify all relevant deadlines; researching Federal, state and local court rules to assist in answering questions on deadlines; working with legal teams in multiple offices; and balancing a fast-paced workflow. Required SkillsQualified candidates must have working knowledge of litigation docketing procedures and have three to five years of litigation docketing/calendaring experience using a rules-based docketing software while working in a law firm, corporate legal department or government agency. The successful candidate will undertake a range of tasks and responsibilities that include: preparation of documentation for closings, including organizing, proofreading and assembling documents; conducting due-diligence; drafting loan documents, closing certificates and opinions; coordinating closing logistics; preparing and filing of UCC Financing Statements; researching industry databases, publicly-available information from local governments and other sources, and applicable law.Required SkillsThis position requires someone who is energetic, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and understands the cycle of a transaction. Candidates considered will be proactive self-starters with demonstrated experience maintaining high quality work products in a fast-paced environment and within time constraints.
