Job Description

Title: Development Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing grants, including reporting, resource allocation and documentation, and renewal applications.

  • Research and prepare grant applications for new funding sources to support current and potential programs as well as the general operating fund.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and manage a Development/Fundraising Committee.
  • Recruit, support and plan for the use of key volunteers and the board in the overall strategic plan for donor cultivation.
  • Create and execute overall strategic development, evaluation and implementation of business development efforts.
  • Research potential donor’s interests and values for alignment with COMEA’s mission.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of prospective major donors, develop methods of cultivation, solicitation and communications on a year-round basis.
  • Prospect potential business corporate donors; determine fit for solicitation for corporate gift or sponsorship program.
  • Maintain current corporate donor and sponsor relationships.
  • Coordinate with Executive Director and Executive Assistant to prepare materials needed for donors; ensure alignment with overall marketing strategies and branding.
  • Support the Executive Director in all matters related to donor relations; communicate to the
    Board of Directors and the Development Committee.  Maintain individual relationships with each member to provide adequate information and appropriate support.
  • Coordinate with Event Directors to secure corporate/private sponsorships for each event.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum of an Associate’s degree with preference given to those holding a Bachelor’s degree.  Experience in grant writing, public relations, donor development or areas related to fund development preferred.
