Position Summary

This position is responsible for the operations and supervising of the staff in the departments comprising Auxiliary Services including: reprographics services, print management, copier programs, motor pool services, and wireless services. Additionally, this position is responsible for contracted services including bookstore operations, food/dining services, and snack and beverage vending operations. The functions assigned to the Director of Auxiliary Services serve a critical role in the delivery and support of essential services to the College's students, faculty, and staff. All but one of the functions assigned to the Director of Auxiliary Services are self-supporting or revenue generating, and thus constant interaction, review, and intervention is required to ensure operational efficiency, performance by third party contractors, accurate billing, proper accounting, and addressing vendor concerns and issues. The incumbent must successfully balance constituent needs, contract obligations, cost considerations, budget impact, and service delivery in the decision making and implementation processes, and the incumbent must communicate operational status accurately and succinctly to College management and internal stakeholders.

Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field from an accredited college and/or university or demonstrated experience in managing large projects, responsibility for business operations, or developing outsourced/contracted services. Demonstrated experience can be substituted for education requirements on an equivalency basis of two years of relevant work experience being equal to 1 year of college education.
  • 2 years of comparable professional experience (i.e: understanding business principals, managing staff, reviewing revenue and expense sheets, forecasting business models, monitoring third party performance, and communicating to all stakeholders at every level in an organization).
  • 2 years of related supervisor experience (i.e: supervising staff at a college, university, in the private sector, a federal branch of government, or other local government entity within the auxiliary services functions, and/or in operations, administration, or business related disciplines).
  • 2 years of managerial experience (i.e: managing programs, complex processes and diverse staff in the auxiliary services functions and/or in the operations, business administration or business related disciplines).


Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of basic accounting and budget monitoring.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communications.
  • Data collection and analysis.
  • Strong skill set with the Microsoft Office suite including Word, Access, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Knowledge of Workday.
  • Formulation of requests for proposals scope of work and the assessment of vendor proposals.
  • Knowledge of contract monitoring and understanding contract provisions.
  • Expert knowledge of NSHE policies and procedures- Important Budget preparation.
  • Manage initiatives and create substantive policies and programs (e.g. sustainability, technology,personal printing)­.
  • Revise existing and create policies and guidelines for Auxiliary Services Department.
  • Meet with departments and college leadership to improve service delivery and respond to issues.
  • Ability to research industry standards and best practices.
  • Willingness to visit other colleges and universities to benchmark service delivery.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reporting. -Important Work with external vendors.
