About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to grow a new territory for Michaels Energy, and the Engineer will have ownership of the projects to achieve real energy savings for customers. The Engineer will work hand in hand with local controls contractors to recommend and verify the proper implementation of energy savings control sequences to deliver an innovative energy efficiency program to medium and large commercial customers. This program entails identifying and recruiting customers, through several channels, that are interested in optimizing their control system for energy savings. Successful candidates will have knowledge on energy control systems, and skills in business development and project management.

 

Duties:

·       Project Recruitment and Screening

o   Use basic knowledge of utility bills and building systems to identify buildings with efficiency potential

o   Engage and recruit customers to participate in the energy efficiency program

o   Develop relationships with local control vendors to drive existing projects and recruit new building owners

o   Inform control contractors and building owners of efficiency program process

o   Conduct outreach to prospective customers and vendors in support of program goals

·       Data Collection

o   Develop data collection plans prior to customer visit

o   Gather energy usage data while at customer site, including: visual inspection, customer/operator interviews, building plans and documents, photos, spot measurements and data logging

·       Facility Control System Analysis

o   Communicate with clients, end-users, vendors, and trade alleys to gather information required for project completion

o   Document the project findings, including baseline conditions, energy savings recommendations, and other important details related to the project

o   Analyze data and develops appropriate engineering models to accurately portray the equipment or system under study

o   Perform energy savings calculations

o   Prepare technical reports that describe the HVAC systems under consideration, their operating characteristics, deficiencies, and proposed modifications in an easy-to-read format

o   Verify successful measure deployment upon project completion

·       Client Management and Business Development

o   Serve as main point of contact for clients in the region, responding to all inquiries in a timely manner

o   Attend local industry and utility events

o   Assist with growth and expansion in the market

 

Desired Qualifications

·       B.S. in Engineering or related field

·       Five years of experience with a combination of engineering, control sequencing, customer/client interactions and project management

·       In-depth understanding of HVAC systems

·       Experience with varied brands of building automation systems

·       Professional Engineer (P.E.)

·       Thrives on meeting people, building relationships and customer satisfaction

·       Passion for energy conservation

·       Able to work remotely with support from company headquarters

·       Local travel up to 30%, occasional travel to company headquarters (La Crosse, WI)

We work for large building/facility owners and managers to reduce energy costs, improve the comfort of their employees, and make their large energy-using systems run as efficiently as possible.
