Job Description

Job Summary

The Fiber Technician I, II, and III positions are hands-on roles that work closely with the Construction Manager and Installation Technicians while installing DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) and other types wireless communication solutions. The duties will include, but are not limited to:
Installing copper/fiber cables, dressing, terminating, testing and troubleshooting.

Level I, II, and III is based on the skill level and experience of the Technician.

Only local candidates will be considered.


  • Houston, TX


  • Use of basic hand tools & equipment.
  • Installation of coaxial or fiber cabling, mounting supports and dressing of the cabling.
  • Climbing and working off of a ladder.
  • Proficient use of various types of fusion splicing machines.
  • Ribbon Splicing and OTDR/Power Meter testing Single Mode Fiber.
  • Assist with the installation of DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) when not installing fiber.
  • Knowledge of setting up and programing RF and Fiber Test Equipment.
  • Previous working and/or hold certificates for operating scissor or boom-lift equipment.
  • Capable of reading and understanding building construction drawings.
  • Wall Penetrations / Floor Cores and Fire Stop.
  • Installation of telecommunication equipment, racks, cabinets, cable ladder and misc. equipment, including transmission equipment, power, alarms, punch-down and dressing / labeling of components.
  • Capable of physically bending, reaching and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Understanding and use of established safety requirements & procedures and/or hold OSHA certificates.

  • 1+ years of Fiber installation experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building Distributed Antennae System (DAS) Industry preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 3 weeks at a time.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Pass Background, Drug Test and MVR (driving record) Pre-Employment Screening.
  • Finger & wrist dexterity & hand/eye coordination.
  • Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts & roof tops utilizing proper fall protection.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Visio, and Power Point
  • Comprehensive understanding of contract scope and requirements for pro-active management of projects and integration into processes

Working Conditions

  • Use of small hand tools.
  • Use of power tools.
  • Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds.
  • Carrying of loads up & down stairs.
  • Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals & solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.
  • General hours of Monday through Friday (Saturday work also required depending on project) 7:00am to 5:30pm. But ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required.
  • Work indoor/outdoor with variable conditions
  • Regional travel required.
  • Must be able to work in the United States.
