Position Purpose

A general foreman provides leadership and is responsible for, although not limited to: scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising, assisting in cost control, and ensuring the safety of all crew members, as well as consistently applying of all KSI policies and procedures fairly.

 

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

1.       Accountable for crews under work authority

a.       Assists crews as necessary, in order to perform a job efficiently and safely, utilizes scope and risk management tools

                                                               i.      Manages resource utilization (people, tools and equipment)

1.       Request manpower as required

b.       Assessing competency and capabilities of foremen and skilled crafts

                                                               i.      Evaluates crew capabilities, training, coaching to ensure that the crews meet required levels of quality

c.       Effectively communicates with employees

                                                               i.      Sets and maintains work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity

                                                             ii.      Effectively resolves conflict and takes appropriate personnel actions

1.       Recognizes, addresses and resolves issues/problems among/between crew(s)

2.       Applies KSI corrective action policy where applicable

                                                           iii.      Shares best practices with co-workers

2.       Conducts safe work and performs behavioral based safety audits

a.       Identifies needs for crew safety training and facilitates delivery of training

b.       Participates in and monitors safety tailgate meetings

c.       Participates in safety/incident investigations and reviews

d.       Ensures timely responses, actions and corrections to any safety issue

3.       Understands and follows work schedules, understands mechanical drawings and constructability

a.       Oversees the execution of the work, including quality and production

                                                               i.      Ensures crews work to job specifications and follows drawings

b.       Identifies needs and deficiencies in the look ahead plan/schedule and communicating these to the appropriate personnel

c.       Reviews and adjusts specific workforce activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules

d.       Identifies, verifies and reports any scheduling conflicts with other crews and contractors to the appropriate personnel

4.       Effectively communicates with customers

a.       Shares best practices with customers

5.       Utilizes CI tools to reduce job costs and KSI’s cost of doing business.

6.       Utilizes the Project Management Process

7.       Reports on crew production, work progress and change

8.       Follow all KS Industries, LP safety policies and procedures

9.       Follow all Customer policies and procedures

Machines, Tools, Equipment and Work  Aids:  Employee must be knowledgeable with the various hand tools that are used in the oil and gas energy sector including, buffers, grinders, pipe and hand wrenches, hammers, gas monitors.   Employee may be assigned a company vehicle for commuting to and from work and from work location to location.  This vehicle will be used for business purposes only and not for personal use.      

 

Working Conditions:  The locations vary from site to site however, the majority of the work is construction based working in the fields.  The walking surfaces vary depending on the terrain from flat to extreme slopes, to hillsides and mountainsides.  Walking on various terrains and in various soil conditions from hard dirt or rocky surfaces to frozen, snowy, wet and slippery conditions.  Most of the work will be subjected to the ambient weather and outdoor conditions. 

 

Work Hours:  Normally, an employee will work 40+ hours per week depending on the factors such as weather and schedules:  While work schedules and hours may vary somewhat depending on specific client locations and projects.  In general, applicable work schedules include 5 – 8’s, 9/80 and 4-10’s.  Work hours include beginning at approximately 6:30 a.m. and finishing around 4:00 p.m.  One half hour lunch and two, 10-minute breaks (morning and afternoon). Overtime as job dictates.  

 

Physical  Requirements:  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.  Depending on the phase of the job, all personnel are required to work in conditions where physical demands can consist of placing one’s body in various positions to inspect and to accomplish certain tasks such as, Sitting, Standing, Squatting, Raising and Lowering objects from one level to another, Carrying objects, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder, Grasping objects with the use of fingers, palm and wrists to hold/and or manipulate objects (hammers, saws, pencils, pens etc,), Pulling ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves toward the force (includes jerking), Pushing ie. Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the force (includes slapping, striking, kicking and treadle actions), bending at the waist, stooping, working in a supine position, twisting seated or standing.  Some of these physical requirements will range from seldom, frequent to constant depending on the task at hand.

Pre-Employment Requirements:   All candidates must pass a pre employment physical examination and drug / alcohol screen as a condition of successful consideration for employment.  Failure to do so will result in the candidate being disqualified from further consideration. 

 

The candidate must also possess a current and valid driver’s license as required for the position, i.e., DOT-Class A, B or a non DOT class C depending on the position applying for.  Candidate must also be insurable through KSI’s insurance carrier.
