Job Description

The successful candidate will be a highly-motivated, disciplined Electrical Engineer with experience in automotive infotainment system development and a desire to bring new features and performance from the fast-paced consumer electronics market into the vehicles of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:
• Develop conceptual system designs and justify application to new vehicles and projects in an effort to meet and exceed customer desires
• Collect, author, and issue specifications to define hardware, software, and HMI implementation of new components and technologies
• Perform on-vehicle testing for component performance, reliability, and robustness
• Exercise component software implementations and ensure functional usability
• Document testing through data analysis, test reports, and technical presentations to explain and archive results
• Analyze root cause and promote countermeasure for technical failures during development
• Support corrective action plans resulting from design or manufacturing concerns
• Study and extrapolate customer needs from market feedback and competitor research

• Exercises good judgment in creating test plans and countermeasure investigations, showing clear logic and sound methodology
• Advances area of responsibility through component evolution, new technology adoption, and process improvement
• Communicates effectively through verbal and written means with expert, non-expert, and ESL audiences
Sound Technology Area Focus:
• Interest in and working knowledge of audio amplifiers, speakers, and microphones
• Apply understanding of acoustics and signal processing to maximize in-vehicle audio system performance
• Measure objective acoustic metrics to characterize audio system performance and analyze deficiencies
• Evaluate audio system tuning and equalization subjectively through use of critical listening skills
• Create proof-of-concept mock ups to validate new design concepts and ideas
Reception Technology Area Focus:
• Interest in and knowledge of in-vehicle antenna / tuner systems and over the air broadcast technologies for world markets, including AM, FM, Satellite Radio, HD Radio, DAB, DTV, Cellular, and GPS media
• Measure antenna performance characteristics for validating and improving reception system design
• Evaluate tuner parameters and make appropriate adjustments to optimize RF and acoustic performance
• Perform test drives to confirm real world performance of antenna / tuner systems

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 2-3 years of automotive experience, preferably with audio and/or antenna systems
• Ability to use common electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, audio analyzers, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, etc.)
• Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, or vehicle system functional failures
• Experience with serial buses; CAN, MOST, and Ethernet communication protocols desired
• Working knowledge of ISO26262 Functional Safety Process preferred
• Proficient PC skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software). Knowledge of MatLab or Labview is beneficial.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
• Overtime and some travel may be required
