Job Description

 The Credentialing Coordinator is responsible all physician credentialing for clients by maintaining hospital applications, and performs tasks related to managed care, government and commercial payer credentialing.

Essential Credentialing Functions:
Maintain active status files for all providers to include up to date information needed to complete required initial and subsequent governmental and commercial payer credentialing applications.
• Continual monitoring and updating of expired documents;
• Maintain current copies of all physician licensing and CME;
• Track credentialing document shipments (received/returned);
• Apply for provider NPI numbers, as applicable.
• Apply for Medicare, Medicaid and BCBS numbers as needed;
• Re-validate Medicare enrollments through PECOS;
• Review all physician’s PECOS enrollment to insure that re-validation is completed timely;
• Provide physician exam volumes to hospitals as requested;
• Maintain managed care files for all clients;
• Maintain Physician/Client/Internal communication;
• Data entry, documentation and tracking of all steps taken, including provider numbers, effective dates, and correspondence received;
• Basic clerical functions including faxing, copying, and filing.
• Work with multiple hospitals to obtain payer mix and insurance contact information;
• Contact hospitals and payers to obtain applications and contracts via phone or websites,
• Populate applications and documents with physician specific information and prepare for review and signature of provider;
• Determine who the signer should be, send applications/contracts for signature;
• Maintain a file of all fully executed contracts and documents;
• Timely follow up on pending credentialing and contracting issues;
• Other duties as assigned.

Education, Training and Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years previous credentialing experience;
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
• Must maintain confidentiality in all areas;
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with individuals at all levels;
• Strong organizational skills; detail oriented;
• Ability to develop and maintain paper and on-line filing systems;
• Must work efficiently under deadlines in a fast paced environment;
• Strong Computer Skills to include use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
