Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The Process Engineer is responsible for the optimization and development of the manufacturing process within Biogums by collaborating with Innovation, Plant operations, and Engineering.  It is the Process Engineer's responsibility to identify and implement process improvements which result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, recognizable cost savings and more consistent product quality.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the fundamental functions and responsibilities of the job as defined below:

  • Develop new or advance existing processes for the new plant in close collaboration with Engineering, Plant Operations and Innovation
  • Develop, review and maintain process engineering documentation: mass and energy balance, PFDs, P & IDs, process descriptions, function specification, and data sheet of new equipment and instruments;
  • Validate third-party calculations for equipment specification to ensure process safety;
  • Support the startup of new systems and training of operating personnel;
  • Supervise and monitor basic and detailed designs together with the engineering company and/or internal engineering group with focus on fulfilment of scope, time and cost, meeting the PSM standards, cGMP, safety and environmental requirements;
  • Conduct contacts with suppliers to evaluate new equipment and equalization of technical proposals;
  • Lead studies of risk processes (HAZOP, What If) and food safety (cGMP) in new and existing projects;
  • Create and contribute to a safe working environment to meet and improve safety objectives, environment and quality;
  • Follow the safety and environmental standards adopted by the company and implement them as a lead element;
  • Classify and prioritize risks related to PSM according to the risk matrix of JM Huber
  • Willingness to travel to multiple sites/vendors as needed to support trials and projects
Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

You background should include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing plant environment
  • Strong knowledge in PSM/HAZOP studies
  • Experience in unit operations, process design, M&E balance, process data analysis
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, MS project, Excel
  • Knowledge in food industry preferred
