Research Director, Comcast Executive Search

 

The Research Director will join our internal Executive Search practice. We are modeled similarly to an executive search firm, with a team of client facing Directors collaborating with our Research and Operations teams to deliver exceptional talent at the VP and above level. The Research Director is responsible for designing and leading the Research function for the practice. This person will determine the best strategies to support our efforts in VP+ hiring, pipelining and research. He/She will work closely with leaders both within CES and across the company on a daily basis to develop innovative strategies to provide real-time insight and information on individuals, companies and markets with an emphasis on high impact business decisions. His/her team focuses on gathering, synthesizing, and presenting information from a variety of sources to our partners and clients to support their executive talent strategies.

 

Key Aspects of the Role

- Lead a team of five Analysts and Associates.
- Work closely with leaders within Executive Search and our clients to understand how Research can contribute to current and future business strategies.
- Promote research engagements as a CES service, and identify opportunities to leverage research in advance of hiring needs.
- Develop strategies for individual searches as well as research projects, to include company target lists, market briefs, organizational mapping, name generation, candidate profiles, etc. 
- Act as consultant to leadership, providing expertise on market trends and research best practices to influence proactive, creative approaches to talent identification and expand reach beyond traditional talent pools.  
- Manage project scoping, staffing and accountabilities for searches and other projects. 
- Ensure strong knowledge management through ongoing capture of information on industry/company developments, executive leadership trends and key talent. Proactively inform partners on relevant talent intelligence and trends.
- Partner across the Executive Search and Talent Management team to leverage data in telling a story that influences decision-making.
- Systematically identify and “map” potential candidates and sources within target companies through database, internal network and external resources (databases, etc.). 
- Champion diversity. Proactively build pipelines of diverse talent for critical roles.
- Coach and develop Research team members around business/industry knowledge, effective search execution, and creation of impactful, client-ready deliverables. 
- Create an environment of strong teamwork in a highly matrixed department and company.
- Partner with CES Operations, Talent Intelligence and Enterprise Business Intelligence on reporting needs around team effectiveness and impact. 
- Work closely with Operations Director on governance of Thrive Talent Relationship Management tool.
- Impact and influence positively throughout the organization. Be a resource throughout the company and provide support to team members; helping when needed while adding value to the team and partners.

- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Required Experience

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in search or related field. Prior experience at the executive level required
- Previous experience leading a team
- Expert knowledge of how to build search strategies for industry leading talent
- Experience with Talent/Customer Relationship Management systems and research tools
