SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for providing services to children participating in the Early Intervention Program, as indicated on the child’s Individual Family Service Plan.  Assures the provision of high-quality, person centered service that is in accordance with agency, county, and NYS Department of Health standards (DOH). 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in multidisciplinary evaluations for children participating in the Early Intervention Program, following NYS Department of Health guidelines.
  • Prepares a report of multidisciplinary evaluation and makes recommendations to the Early Intervention Program as appropriate and based on child’s eligibility for service, following NYS Department of Health guidelines.
  • Provides direct speech therapy service to children participating in the Early Intervention Program, as indicated on the child’s Individual Family Service Plan.
  • Records and reports the child’s response to therapy following NYS Department of Health guidelines.
  • Maintains appropriate billing records on visits with child, following NYS Department of Health guidelines.
  • Demonstrates therapy for the family member, or other responsible person who may assist with the child’s speech and language development.
  • Counsels the child’s family members regarding the child’s speech and language development.
  • Re-evaluates the child’s progress and therapy program, suggesting changes as necessary in the Individual Family Service Plan, and confers with Service Coordinator and other team members.
  • Participates in Individual Family Service Plan and/or team meetings.
  • Completes any other related duties as instructed by Supervisor and/or Director.
  • Maintains confidentiality of child and agency information.
  • Responsible for completing paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Complies with DOH Bureau of Early Intervention guidelines and all agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure ST license and NY State registration are current.
  • Participate in required trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be licensed and currently registered by the State of New York and meet the education and experience requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Pathology granted by the American Speech and Hearing Association;

                                                   OR

  • Meet the educational requirements for certification and is in the process of accumulating the supervised experience required for certification.
