Job Description

Landfill Gas Staff Engineer

We are looking for a Staff Engineer with 0 to 2 years of experience who is interested in design, installation, construction, monitoring, assessment, regulatory compliance, and operations and maintenance of environmental control and monitoring systems for landfills, transfer stations, remediation sites, and other sites requiring environmental mitigation or protection measures.

This position will include project system designs, site visits, client relations, budget modeling, system buildouts, and field construction management.  AutoCAD C3D and knowledge of Survey are a plus. As our Staff Engineer you will take direction from and work beneath senior level staff. The ideal person for this position seeks a fast paced, challenging environment, a place to grow and improve skills, and a collaborative environment that is conducive to the development of their personal skills.



  • Assist and implement flare facility designs, site utilities, forcemains and leachate collection systems, landfill gas collection systems.
  • Landfill Gas engineering design and permitting (landfills, transfer stations and recycling facilities)
  • Preparing technical reports such as operating plans, CQA reports, and permit applications
  • Collecting air and water monitoring samples
  • Analyzing technical data
  • Report writing Implement logic and creativity in Design Issues
  • Effective communication with colleagues and superiors
  • Use of computer-aided design (AutoCAD) packages to design projects
  • Construction monitoring and documentation of construction activities at solid waste landfill facilities including field inspection and testing of soils, geosynthetic liners, leachate and gas management systems, and other environmental control systems. On-site job training will be provided as necessary.
  • Responsible for assuring overall compliance with all applicable project specifications and construction drawings.
  • Good communication, writing, and organization skills necessary, including collaboration and coordination with senior staff and management and direction of support staff.
  • Must be self-starting and willing to work independently as well as in a team environment.


  • Bachelors of Science in Engineering required, strong preference to Civil and Environmental
  • 0-2 years of related experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MS Word and Excel.
  • EIT license preferred and required after 1 year.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to include proposal writing and reporting
  • Experience or background in civil, geological, or solid waste
  • Experience with State and Municipal projects a plus
  • Travel expenses covered for out of town assignment
  • Flexible schedule for overtime
  • Travel will be required
  • Valid Driver's license required
