RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client in search of a Systems Engineer 3 in San Diego, California (CA). Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Primary focus is to provide operational excellence for our systems (Hosting, Email, Endpoint Management, File Share and related services); This primarily consists of regular monitoring, maintenance and incident response; This includes services hosted on premise as well as cloud (AWS)
  • Provide 1st and 2nd level operations support for Microsoft Server and Email/Messaging for end users, application and administration teams
  • You must be comfortable in addressing critical incidents
  • Be part of the On-Call rotation to support Email, Hosting, File Share, DHCP, and Shared SQL environments
  • Participate in security and application troubleshooting and incident problem resolutions with other infrastructure teams, including application, storage, Email/Messaging, Endpoint management and server teams
  • Brief/present to senior leadership on the status of projects and tasks
  • Secondary focus will be to support the engineers on various projects and initiatives
  • Ensure thorough testing of solutions for functionality and compatibility
  • Communicate, document, and distill technical information to team members and partner organizations
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots technical issues
  • Provide capacity planning and performance monitoring to sustain and improve service availability
  • Coordinate service/support needs with vendors, application support teams, and internal teams through effective partnership, collaboration and communication
  • Adhere to Change Request guidelines and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned are required for the role


REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Certifications for Microsoft and/or AWS
  • Experience of working in Infrastructure Support/Ops environment (Minimum 3 years)
  • Experience administering Email/Messaging in an enterprise environment (15,000+ users)
  • Extensive experience with Windows Server 2012/2016
  • Operations/Troubleshooting experience and strong passion for operations
  • Strong interpersonal skills/behaviors (e.g. communication skills, team collaboration skills, customer service/obsession, etc.)
Preferred Experience:
  • Expertise and experience on AWS
  • Experience in IT infrastructure services: DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and PKI Certificates and SSL
  • Experience with complex multi-zone/site enterprise environments and hybrid cloud deployments (O365/Azure)
  • Solid understanding of IT components including Networking, Network Load Balancing, SAN/NAS storage, Single Sign-On solutions, and SaaS Solutions (Box, AWS, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of one or more virtualization technologies required (such as VMWare, Hyper-V)
  • Working experience/knowledge of enterprise email services and related sub-systems, (i.e., email archive and eDiscovery, mailbox migrations, email retention, OWA, etc.)
  • Experience of working in a large infrastructure environment with tight Change management compliances
  • Hands-on experience using scripts and scripting languages such as PowerShell, VBScript, Python, Java, or Perl to deploy, manage, and automate device configurations and monitoring/reporting tools & alerting
  • Open to Plano, TX and Mountain View, CA
