Job Description


This control systems engineering position will be involved with value package introduction (VPI) of commercial and/or consumer genset controls within the Controls Development organization.


The candidate will define system requirements, develop system test plans, develop control algorithms, design, integrate, and test genset controls by working as part of a cross functional project team consisting of systems engineers, software engineers, hardware engineers, application engineers, service engineers, electronic tool developers, marketing, and end users.


Other duties include working in a process and schedule driven environment, managing workload, participating in technical project reviews and peer reviews, utilizing configuration management tools, supporting the design of control harnesses and other related components that interconnect with the control system, and releasing parts/assemblies.





·         Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.  Minimum of 5 years experience required.


·         Experience developing real-time embedded control systems (closed loop) containing microcontrollers, communications, digital electronics, and analog electronics required.


·         Experience working within a structured system engineering process performing analysis, defining requirements, performing system-level design, and system integration.


·         Experience defining, developing, and executing system test procedures in both bench top simulation and test cell environments.


  • Experience with electronic test equipment – oscilloscopes, data logging, AC power supplies.


·         Experience with engine control, genset control, power electronics, or power generation highly desired.


·         Knowledge/experience with standard communication protocols, RS232, RS485, Modbus, & J1939 or other CAN based protocols desired.


·         Knowledge/experience with C programming language and structured programming techniques desired.


·         Knowledge/experience with electronic hardware design – specifically digital core, interfacing sensors, and I/O circuits desired.


·         Experience interfacing/integrating components and designs into seamless systems.
