Job Description

Technician Apprentice is under close supervision of a Supervisoror lead, assist in performing technician duties within the context of thetraining requirements and successful completion of competency steps of theTechnician Apprenticeship Program.


Cell Technician

  • Learn and assist in stocking vehicle with necessary equipment on a weekly basis
  • Assist the technician to repair or replace damaged or faulty items in a timely manner to ensure maximum network availability.
  • Learn how to perform all components of cell site maintenance including: automatic/manual optimization, antenna testing and results analysis.
  • Learn how to perform testing, acceptance and analysis of DS0, FT1, T1, T3, OC3, and STS1 circuits including: Microwave or SONET systems, CSU, T1 interface devices, Digital Cross Connects and physical cross connects utilizing appropriate test equipment (T-BERD or equivalent)
  • Learn the power systems functionality to perform and analyze battery routines, perform voltage adjustments and PMs on rectifiers and DC power systems.
  • Assist in the proper maintenance of site buildings and grounds.
  • Learn and assist to complete requiredequipment, supply paperwork and printouts.
  • Learn the technology outlined in the Apprenticeship Program
  • Ability to follow daily instructions.


  • Learn and assist in stocking vehicle withnecessary equipment on a weekly basis
  • Learn and assist how to run cables and hook upreceivers
  • Assist technician to determining the best location for customer satellites
  • Learn how to provide technology service and support to customers
  • Ensure customer satisfaction at the highest level
  • Learn how to run the systems to be able to communicate all aspects of running the system to the customer providing thorough explanations
  • Learn the technology outlined in the Apprenticeship Program
  • Ability to follow daily instructions.

RecommendedMinimum Job Requirements:

  • At least 18 years of age and legally able to work in the United States
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must have a valid drivers license

RecommendedKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Possess a valid drivers license
  • Working knowledge of hand tools and power tools
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable operating electronic devices
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Available for a flexible work schedule (weekends / holidays / evenings)

Physical Demands:

Cell Technician:

  • Be able to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop and drive
  • Ability to hear, understand and respond appropriately to verbal requests make in person and over the telephone

Satellite Technician:

  • Be able to lift up to 80 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Be comfortable climbing up to heights of 40 feet
  • Be able to work safely from a ladder rated for a maximum working load of 300 lbs. including all tools and equipment
  • Be comfortable working in crawlspaces and attics
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop and drive
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather throughout the year
