Job Description


1.1.  Reports to: Group Manager – Purchasing, Material & Logistics  


2.     JOB SUMMARY:  Support the Material Group Manager in the responsibilities to manage all aspects of logistics, supply chain, material flow, inventory accuracy, planning, reducing cost, warehouse layout, continuous improvement, and shipping and receiving to ensure that customer orders are accurate and fulfilled on time. 



3.1.     Support Material Group Manager to oversee Shipping, Receiving and Warehouse

3.1.1.     Monitor receiving from suppliers, customers and others

3.1.2.     Monitor customer shipping performance

3.1.3.     Cross train with supervisors in the event of absence

3.1.4.     Ensure process, procedures, and policies are followed in shipping/receiving department

3.1.5.     Work with team on continuous improvement ideas

3.1.6.     Train as necessary to ensure process, procedures, and work instructions are followed

3.1.7.     Support team with determined KPI’s

3.2.    Support Material Team Inventory Control

3.2.1.     Determine appropriate level(target) of inventory with appropriate teams

3.2.2.     Strongly support cycle counter and help determine schedule cycle counts

3.2.3.     Work with team to ensure engineering changes are followed and there is zero obsolescence

3.2.4.     Report inventory amounts for financial statements on time

3.2.5.     Support and participate in physical inventories as scheduled

3.2.6.     Ensure material is used in FIFO order

3.2.7.     Determine root cause and corrective actions for inventory discrepancies

3.3.  Process & Systems (related with Material)

3.3.1.     Review, create or maintain process, procedure, instructions that abide by customer requirements and guidelines

3.3.2.     Work with Material Group Manager to establish business plan, targets(KPI) and monitor, report results monthly with action plans (if needed)

3.3.3.     Coordinate physical material flow and location along with plant lay-out design

3.3.4.     Strongly support Plex ERP system and barcode system use

3.4.  Assistant Managerial activities

3.4.1.     Support the team members in the Materials Department with a heavy emphasis on inventory control, shipping & receiving, plant layout improvement

3.4.2.     Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws in the event of Material Group Manager’s absence

3.4.3.     Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

3.4.4.     Support manager in establishing yearly budget, business plan, continuous improvement ideas and purchasing activities for Material department

3.5.  Others

3.5.1.     Support and work with other departments to help solidify team mentality

3.5.2.     All other tasks as requested by Management

3.5.3.     Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by implementing, maintaining and aligning company policies that adhere to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations

3.5.4.     Fully understand Kwangjin’s quality management system to identify opportunities and drive continuous improvement



4.1.  Associate’s Degree (preferred) in business, management or other related discipline

4.2.  Minimum 5 years of experience in material department (minimum supervisor level)

4.3.  Proven leadership, organizational, analytical, and networking skills as well as written and oral communications skills.

4.4.  Must be computer literate, knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint

4.5.  Working knowledge and understanding of Plex ERP/EDI systems and their use in a manufacturing environment

4.6.  Leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate work to subordinates, and the ability to evaluate and positively influence performance
