  • Bronx Community Board 10 is an agency of New York City government charged with the responsibility of monotoring City services in a given area and providing advisory opinions on land use and budgetary matters. I was responsible for the management of the office and the staff within; the drafting of executive level correspondence, advisory memos, legislative testimony, press releases and various regulatory and budgetary documents; responsible for representing my principals at meetings and governmental forums; provided the members of the Board with research and administrative services; maintained the records of the Board and took minutes at Committee meetngs. Oversaw the preparation of the Board's internal budget.

  • In concert with the Board's senior leadership, developed a series of goals, personnel policies and overall office management procedures for the Board's office.
  • - Organized and directed the staff activities in the provision of ombudsman services; - Conducted research on legislative and communal issues, and advised the Board's leadership on policy matters.
  • - Composed all written communications from the Board, such as the Board's District Needs Statement, its capital and expense budget requests, executive level correspondence, advisory memos, reports, legislative testimony, authored an article for a local newspaper, maintained contacts with print and electronic media outlets; served as the Board's spokesperson for media inquiries; - Developed and maintained relationships with shareholders, such as elected officials, community and civic groups, and the public.
  • Additionally, provided the Board with quality ambassadorial services, by attending meetings, public hearings and community events.
  • - Chaired the District Service Cabinet Meeting (a monthly meeting of local service providers) and facilitated the adoption of joint responses to service challenges by this diverse body.
  • - Served as custodian of the Board's records and FOIL officer.
  • - Oversaw the drafting of the Board's budget and monitored its expenses.

  • Conservation Analyst Bureau of Customer Services Developed and implemented an outreach and customer service program for a major water conservation initiative known as the New York City Toilet Rebate Program, that facilitated the installation of low consumption fixtures throughout the City.
  • The public's participation in this program was greatly enhanced by these efforts.
  • As a result of this outreach effort, millions of gallons of water were saved, and the City did not have to impose drought restrictions.
  • Acting Director Office of Community Outreach - Provided leadership and guidance to the staff.
  • - Developed in concert with senior staff, policy initiatives designed to disseminate information to the water/sewer customer base and the general public on the agency's activities and programs.
  • - Selected sites for public meetings and hearings on large capital projects such as the Croton Water Filtration Plant, and other infrastructure issues; interacted with elected officials and stakeholders on these projects.
  • - Engaged in Ombudsman and ambassadorial activities for the agency.
  • - Developed and disseminated all written and verbal communication from the office, inclusive of executive level correspondence, reports, advisory memos, briefing books and service notices.
  • Attended the Borough wide Budget Consultations, providing research and logistical support for the senior staff that attended those meetings.
  • Supervisor - Bureau of Customer Services - Provided leadership and support to staff involved in the provision of customer services.
  • - Marshalled the resources of various work units and interpreted the New York City Water Board regulations, in responding to high level inquiries regarding water and sewer charges.
  • - Assisted senior management in creating a work environment, where the staff could demonstrate their talents and be encouraged to achieve their fullest potential.

  • Through personal advocacy and the cooperation of the Board's leadership, an Urban Fellow from Pratt Institute, also associated with the Fund for the City of New York, was retained and encouraged to create a coastal protection plan for the shoreline communities of the Board.
  • The plan presented a series of alternatives that would prevent damage caused by the sea water swells, associated with hurricanes and major storms.
  • The plan was presented to the Mayor's Office and was well received.
